Dog Walking Etiquette
Suggested Rules for Dog Walking Etiquette
IT IS UP TO EACH OF US, AS DOG OWNERS AND HANDLERS, TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR DOGS. PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF ALL USERS OF THIS PARK.
-
Dogs must remain leashed while entering and exiting Edmands Park.
-
Dogs must wear current tags for off-leash license and up-to-date rabies vaccine.
-
Always keep a leash and dog waste disposal bags on hand.
-
Pick up after your dog and encourage others to do the same.
-
Do not unleash a dog who you know to be aggressive.
-
Always keep your dog in sight and under effective voice (and/or electronic collar) control.
-
Many people do not like unfamiliar dogs approaching them. BE RESPECTFUL! Call and leash your dog at a distance and then ask if your dog may approach.
-
Never let your dog run up to an unfamiliar dog, leashed or unleashed, until you ask permission from the dog’s owner for the dogs to meet.
-
Check for posted signs that could temporarily affect off-leash access. Examples: Crews working in the park or city-approved activities.
-
Violations of these rules jeopardize others’ safety and enjoyment of the park!
